Research Method

4 Interviewees

Secondary Research

Before designing the app, I did secondary research and interviewed the workers working in the Hot desk office. It helps us understand the user needs, journey, and pain points of the seating management app to ensure the design meets the user’s preferences and needs.

Here are some key interview questions that maybe help us to clarify the issues and problems.

  • Have you encountered some difficulties when you work in a hot desk office?

  • Could you describe the process of finding a seat in the office?

  • How often do you have to sit near with your colleagues for discussion?

  • What functions are essential for an app of hot desk office?

Takeaway

  • User always found that their preferred seats always being occupied

  • It challenging to collaborate effectively with my team if they are scattered across the office

  • To know about the real-time availability of the seats and meeting room

Simple Dashboard

We design a simple and clear dashboard to view the availability of seats and meeting rooms. Users can view the remaining seats on each floor and their colleagues nearby.

To discover user's behaviour

User Journey

The User Journey Map is used to better understand the crucial experience, challenges, mindset, and overall journey that users may encounter while searching for a seat and to list the opportunities. For example, in the "awareness" stage, we found that might need a function to reserve a seat as they found it is annoying to find a decent seat for them.

Book and Reserve

Based on the research, we designed the app to have two ways to get the seats. Reserve a seat that day or scan the QR code on the table. Users can reserve a seat during commuting time while preventing occupying a specific seat continuously. It allows the users to get their preferred seat easier.

Work as a team

Specific users like a manager are able to book for their team by the team booking function. This function aims to solve the pain point of scattering colleagues without booking the meeting room.

Future Step

After the production stage, we will conduct the usability test. It allows the real users to test for the bug and function, addressing out the loopholes or details we might miss it.

To understand user's needs

Personas

With the personas, we can build features that suit customers' needs. allows us to build features that align with our customers' needs. Understanding users' goals and pain points plays a crucial role in guiding product development, ensuring that we deliver solutions that truly resonate with our target audience.
